INSTALLATION
Art in the Age of Scriabin

The design for the installation of “The Blue Rose: Art in the Age of Scriabin” utilized digital projection to present the work of 16 Russian artists who originally exhibited their work in 1907. The exhibit was staged in conjunction with a major symposium on the Russian composer Alexander Scriabin. Digital projection of the time-sequenced images required a rethinking of the traditional gallery experience. Typically, the viewer is put in motion to view a series of fixed works, in this case, the view remains stationary as the art changes in sequence. The exhibit space interacts with the participants through the layering of scrim fabric and wall planes and an integrated bench and screening wall. The viewer and projections are framed by the exhibition elements.
